    Description

For sale is a 1939 World's Fair print titled "Lightning", showing the GE Pavilion.
Each photograph was professionally printed in our darkroom from negatives in the Webber Collection. Each comes in a bright white Crescent acid-free mat (finished size 16x20) suitable for framing. Finished prints do not have any copyright/watermarks. Mat photo for viewing purposes only.
In 1939, my Dad started as a volunteer at the World's Fair and was given access to to many of the pavilions after most people had gone home. He captured this image, along with many others, on September 11, 1940 prior to the Fair's closing. Due to World War 2 restrictions on photo materials, the negatives were never printed until more than 50 years later when I printed the first set.
A number of the photographs printed from these negatives are now part of the permanent collection of the Queens Museum of New York City, the only surviving structure from the Art Deco event of the 20th century.
Check out my other listings for additional images from my "Nite Sites" series, eventually 10 in total.
