Description
This is a beautifully restored 1959 Imperial Crown Convertible. I purchased from the 40 year owner who put the car through a frame off restoration. He started with a rust free and no accident car and spared no expense in making the car showroom new. He completed the restoration and then drove it sparingly making sure everything was really well sorted. Everything on this car works exactly as the factory intended with one exception of the clock. I've owned it under a year and have not shown it due to CoVID. It is absolutely a show caliber car.I've tried to show the car in several lighting conditions because the white is difficult to photograph. I used a good high resolution Sony camera but still don't love the pictures. The ones in the shade are better and anything you see on the car is simply a shadow.
The car starts every time. If I let it sit a few weeks, it cranks about 20 seconds total and requires pumps of the gas. If it sits a week or less, it fires up instantly.
I have driven this car extensively at highway speeds and around town. It has incorrect radial tires on it because I like to drive it, to make it perfect, you would want to put Coker wide white bias ply tires on it.
The exterior is gorgeous with fantastic paint and newly done trim and chrome. It needs nothing! The top is excellent and has never been put down. I have tested it and the function of all the power components is excellent but I don't want to risk putting wrinkles in the rear window or top. All of the top bows are perfectly restored and look great. All of the hydraulics are excellent with no leaks or issues.
The interior is also lovely. It has all the correct materials supplied by SMS. There is some really slight wear apparent (can be seen in the pictures) but no doubt still qualifies as show caliber. I am being really fussy in my describing 'wear'.
The carpets and seat material is excellent. All on the interior bright work is also show caliber. Everything works with the only exception being the clock. All dash lights are perfect, headlights, brights, blinkers, brake lights, etc are fully functional.
All of the rubber gaskets and wind lacing are perfect reproductions, the dash pad is perfect and the glass is all excellent as well. All of the original gauges also work perfectly having been fully restored by a marque expert.
The trunk is immaculate, has a matching spare and jack. The trunk lid closes easily and the brand new rubber keeps all mosture out.
The undercarriage was show detailed at the time of restoration but shows signs of use now. I have not had it re-detailed so some road dirt is visible. The car has never seen rain since I owned it and has never been driven on a road that was treated with salt anytime recently.
This Imperial is gorgeous, I'd argue probably one of the best in existance and is also so well sorted, you could drive it 500 miles tomorrow. I have many more pictures of it and am happy to share, shoot me your email through the contact seller link or give me a call at 860-883-3998.
I have a storage issue so I am selling this and my Studebaker (see my other auction). I have driving and walk around videos as well that I can send links to. Finally, please feel free to come see this car. It is at my home in CT and inspections are encouraged.
I listed this car with the intent of selling it and will consider fair buy it now offers at any time.
Thanks a ton and good luck bidding.
